JEWELRY

I studied fashion design in Paris at “La Chambre Syndical de la Couture Parisienne” where I also had the opportunity to learn jewelry illustration and production techniques. I fell in love with the colored stones that took millions of years to form and the endless creativity the jewelry world provides. This was a true calling as my passion for natural history, archeology, art and fashion was all united in this new art form.

My inspiration is drawn from my varied experiences; living in Scandinavia as a child, working as a handbag designer in Paris, New York and Italy and especially from Venice where I currently live. Venice is amazing
for its artisanal history, commerce, art history and culture. For years I have sketched the amazing architectural details and taken pictures of every detail that attracted me. These sketches and photos form the foundation
of my jewelry collection today. Nature in general, Venetian architecture, the ever-changing turquoise
shades of the lagoon and sea, combined with a hint of Renaissance and Greco Roman influences,
are the elements that inspire me the most.

Finding new stones, mixing them into beautiful color combinations and creating new elements is part of my creative process when starting new designs. I often use soft colored stones, pearls, fossils, varied metals and every now and then some antique elements to create unique pieces. Jewelry creates emotions and selecting a piece of jewelry is very personal. This is why most of the jewelry I design, are one of a kind pieces and independent of the fashion trends of the moment. This ethos results in a more personal style and the respectful use of resources.

My jewelry pieces are all crafted here in Venice by master jewelers. I take pride in the fact that I can participate in keeping alive and support the artisans still working in Venice.

I love my early morning walks in Venice when everything is still so quiet and alleys are empty allowing me to photograph and sketch in my jewelry books. Secret gardens, architectural details and ever-changing turquoise shades of the Venetian lagoon are so inspirational each time.
